This book is a compilation of articles on Kuala Lumpur history and Masjid Jamek, the first mosque by the British in Kuala Lumpur. Inspired by the National Heritage illustration of Masjid Jamek, the book takes on the historical journey from the early beginning of Kuala Lumpur since early 1800s till the recent time, focusing on social culture and architectural achievements. The creation of Masjid Jamek is seen as manifestation of the city’s growth reflecting the Colonial British’s initiative to provide an architectural masterpieces for the religious purpose of the city dwellers.
